Ford GT-40Limited Edition Print of the double Le Mans winning Ford GT-40 |
The Ford GT40 Limited Edition art print tells
a story of classic evolution, portraying the Ford GT40 from it's first race at the Nurburgring in 1964 through to
its finest hour - winning the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1969 in the hands of Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver. Cliff, with more than a nod to his
automotive styling background, has captured the superb and evocative shapes of the 1966 and 1967 Le mans winners, as well as the
famous John Wyer Automotive 1969 car.

The reflective tone of the image is set by the Belgian Ardenne, where Jacky Ickx
races to victory in the J.W.Automotive Mirage. The theme is picked up by the dark
shadows and the shades of grey which portray the old Mk I in the background; and
John Wyer and Jacky Ickx, facing each other at a post race briefing, savouring
perhaps the great success of the Ford GT40 . . .
The focal point of the image is also the climax of the GT40 story; the bright blue
and orange J.W. Mk1 chassis No. 1075, 24 hours before it became a legend at Le Mans,
winning the race by a mere 100 metres in June 1969. This car also won the 1968
Le Mans 24 hours in the hands of Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi.
